Austria already has a live domestic document wallet in eAusweise, alongside ID Austria for digital identity. The planned EUDI wallet builds on these services, so Austria has an established app and user experience to evolve rather than a wallet starting from scratch. That existing availability does not mean the EUDI upgrade is complete or certified.

Developers can explore A-SIT Plus’s open Valera demonstrator, source code and credential issuance and verification flows. This is a separate testbed, not access to the production eAusweise backend. Austrian wallet-certification work has reached a draft scheme, while the available evidence does not yet identify the production EUDI relying-party registration route or national recognition rules for independent private wallets.
