What is SPID?
SPID is Italy's national digital identity framework, provided by various certified issuers. It is used to authenticate across public and private online services, and through Trinsic it returns verified identity attributes to your application.

Which countries can use SPID?
SPID covers Italy, San Marino, and Vatican City. It is an app-based electronic ID.

What information can you verify with SPID?
Verifying with SPID through Trinsic always returns given name, family name, date of birth, document type, document number, issue date, and issuing authority. It may also return sex, phone number, a full address, and the document expiration date when available. SPID does not provide document images.

How does verifying with SPID work?
A person selects SPID, authenticates with their chosen SPID issuer using a username and password, and depending on the assurance level may enter a one-time passcode or confirm through a mobile app. They then consent to share their data and the flow completes.

What assurance levels does SPID support?
SPID supports three assurance levels, with authentication requirements that escalate from Level 1 to Level 3. Using SPID through Trinsic requires permission and registration before it can be activated, and test credentials are provided for each assurance level.
